Check Out Current File

Checks out the file that’s currently open for viewing.

Use this command to check out the currently open file. This command is useful if you have opened a file that is only available for viewing (read-only access), but decided that you actually need to edit it. It is also useful if you want to edit a file that is opened as the source of a conref or xref by using the Edit button in the Reference Manager.

Note: The current file is closed then if it is available for editing it is reopened with read-write access. If the file is not available for editing (if it’s already checked out to someone else), the file will be reopened for viewing.
