Upgrading from the App Pack

DITA-FMx cannot be installed simultaneously with the Adobe FrameMaker 7.2 Application Pack for DITA. If you are upgrading from the App Pack, read through the following items.

• You must delete or move the plugin files that provided DITA support since the new plugin files will conflict with the old ones. Delete or move the ditafm.dll and ditafm_app_72.dll files from the FrameMaker\fminit\Plugins\ folder.

  Important: Do not rename the DLLs or move them to a sub-folder of the Plugins folder. You must completely move them to an alternate location. If the files exist (under any name) within or below the Plugins folder, FrameMaker will still load them.

• You may want to delete the old structure applications to eliminate possible confusion. To delete the structure applications choose File > Structure Tools > Edit Application Definitions. In the structure application definitions file, select and delete the XMLApplication elements that are named DITA-Topic-FM, DITA-Map-FM, and DITA-Book-FM. After modifying this file be sure to save it then choose File > Structure Tools > Read Application Definitions.

• If you want to continue using the structure applications from the App Pack (or your customized version), you’ll need to edit the “stub” files for those applications and change the “Use API Clients” element so it references the client “ditafmx_app” instead of “ditafm_app.”

• DITA-FMx does not provide a book-building feature, if you want to make use of the book-building plugin that was provided with the App Pack, see Setting Up the Book-Building Application.
